The Municipality of Karlstad created the "Win a Job" program which provides select full-time students at Karlstad Municipality with the resources necessary to complete projects that benefit the community. Award recipients are chosen by a jury of municipal Human Resource managers and granted a fixed-term employment contract for 100 hours. The salary is calculated on the basis of a monthly salary of SEK 22,500 and is paid when the project is implemented.

The Simplification e-service was created to improve the municipality's relationship with the business community by creating a single point of contact for complaints and suggestions. Any entrepreneurs who have experienced any unnecessarily difficult interactions with the municipality are encouraged to use the e-service.

Karlstad, SE first in the world to train home care staff in climate-smart and traffic-safe driving
The Municipality of Karlstad invested approximately one million kronor to train home care staff in climate-smart and traffic-safe driving. The training will be conducted by the project manager for the FIA Smart Driving Challenge road safety and eco-driving initiative. Karlstad is the first municipality in the world to provide this training opportunity for home care staff. The initiative has received support from the International Automobile Federation and the United Nations.
