Kingston, NY trials Mobile Mental Health team for improved responses to emergency calls

Kingston, NY Mobile Mental Health Emergency Team Trial

A fire department EMT and a mental health social worker team up for weekday calls during the pilot. City and county dispatchers received training on identifying emergency situations requiring mental health interventions. The entire Kingston Fire Department also completed training on crisis intervention in support of the team. This first-in-the-region project de-escalates mental health crises frequently handled by local police.
