Kirklees Council, GB advances carbon-neutrality efforts with Huddersfield housing retrofit pilot
Kirklees Council, GB Huddersfield Housing Retrofit Pilot
Eight homes on Abbey Road were selected for home energy upgrades by Groundwork and Michael Dyson Associates. New insulation in ceilings and external walls regulates room temperatures. Gas boilers were replaced by solar-powered heat pumps that eliminate emissions and energy bills. Council staffers will analyze monthly energy consumption to determine the pilot's success and improve processes for future retrofits.
