East Longmeadow, MA issues free trash containers with tracking technology to local households
East Longmeadow and Longmeadow delivered one container per home as part of a new waste management contract. Each 36-gallon container contains a radio frequency ID in the handle picked up by waste contractors. This tracking system allows local officials to monitor service levels and quickly respond to missed collections. East Longmeadow also issued the containers to establish uniform bin sizes due to past compliance issues.
