The City of Moline is spending $214,000 to purchase an Avigilon video surveillance system for 16 locations downtown. The cameras will be aimed at outdoor public areas and will not have facial recognition capability or license plate reader technology. All recordings will be maintained on a city-owned server for at least 30 days and will not be shared with other entities. The city plans to expand the project in four additional phases as the local broadband infrastructure improves.
