Searsmont, ME and neighboring towns formed the Southwest Waldo County Broadband Coalition
The towns of Searsmont, Liberty, Palermo, Montville, and Freedom have partnered together to form the Southwest Waldo County Broadband Coalition. The coalition's long-term goal is to create a municipally-owned public broadband utility for residents of Waldo County which will cost between $7 to $10 million in grant funding and revenue bonds. The coalition is currently planning to conduct a feasibility study which is expected to cost between $9,000 to $12,000 per town.
