Nanaimo, BC Chronolog Crowdsource Environmental Monitoring

The one-year pilot places 10 monitoring stations in eight parks with habitat restoration projects. Park visitors attach their smartphones to station frames and take photos of the habitats. Each station includes instructions for uploading photos to the Chronolog system. These images are converted into time-lapsed photos published on the city website. This project engages residents and tourists in studying long-term changes to the local environment.

City sets up environmental photo-monitoring stations | City of Nanaimo

Over the course of one year, residents will have the opportunity to participate in a project to monitor environmental changes of restored habitat streams in eight Nanaimo parks. The City has contracted Chronolog photo-monitoring program on a trial basis to produce time-lapse videos from publicly-generated images.
