The city of Niterói created the Arariboia Social Currency program to replace the Temporary Basic Income program and help 27,000 vulnerable families living in poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Arariboia social currency can be used at registered local businesses such as bakeries, markets, and vegetables producers to help families meet their basic needs while supporting local businesses. The average monthly amount varies from R$360 to R$540 depending on the size of the family.

Niterói, RJ is surveying and mapping the economic potential of local cultural sectors
The City of Niterói's Municipal Department of Cultures is partnering with the Fluminense Federal University to survey and map the economic potential of local cultural sectors. The research project was created within the Applied Projects Development Program which contributes to public policies that minimize the problems perceived by workers in the city's cultural sector. The study will address the relationship between economy, culture and work for artists, managers, producers, technicians, etc.

Niterói, RJ used surveillance cameras to track bikes on main streets and plan route expansions
The Niterói de Bike Coordination partnered with the Nittrans Operational Control Center to use surveillance cameras to track bikes circulating in the city. The city used these images to count each of the bicycles that passed through main streets over a six-month period. This bike count was used to generate a profile of cyclists and to plan cycling route expansions throughout the city.

The Niterói City Hall launched the Niterói Cidadã platform to support non-profit organizations by improving the management of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Through the platform, CSOs can formalize projects, raise funds, participate in public notices, enroll in training courses, schedule philanthropic actions, etc. The platform maps non-profit organizations in the city and identifies the main demands to guide the development of new measures that help local CSOs.
