Pasadena, CA advances emission reduction goals with its e-bike rebate pilot program

The city's Climate Action Plan calls for a 59% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over 2009 levels by 2035. Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) encourages community participation with e-bike rebates for purchases from participating shops. E-bike purchases qualify for $500 rebates with an additional $250 for cargo or adaptable e-bike purchases. PWP also offers $250 per purchase for bill assistance program participants. Each PWP household is eligible for up to two purchases during the pilot.

Pasadena, CA Police Department urges City Council to ban unregulated ghost guns and ghost gun kits

The Pasadena Police Department (PPD) is asking the City Council's Public Safety Committee to make an amendment to the Pasadena Municipal Code stating that owning a homemade gun or kit is illegal. According to the PPD, the city is law is needed to close state and federal loopholes regarding possession of "ghost guns" unregistered and unserialized firearms. These ghost guns are made from unregulated ghost gun kits that are easy to acquire and can even be ordered online.

As part of this process, the city has released the City Manager Recruitment Community Survey a five-minute online survey asking residents about their preferences for the qualities, characteristics, experience, and background of the next city manager.

Pasadena, CA created a requirement that new building projects submit 3D digital models

The city of Pasadena is now requiring that new development projects submit 3D digital models of their buildings when filing for a permit. The city intends to update its digital 3D model, originally obtained in 2008, by replacing the models of demolished buildings with the models of new buildings after they are constructed. By requiring 3D digital model submissions of new buildings the city has paved the way for the development of comprehensive digital twins.
