Pembrokeshire County Council, GB builds skilled workforce with Enterprise and Skills Project pilot

County officials recruited delivery partners for 10-week skills courses on topics from computer-aided design to hospitality. A Wage Subsidised Training Scheme offset the costs of job placements for 10 workers seeking full-time employment. The Enterprise and Skills Project offered business support including decarbonisation planning and pandemic-related advice. The county also conducted a survey of local businesses about anticipated labor needs and skill gaps.

Pembrokeshire County Council, GB boost rural connectivity with Ultrafast Broadband project

County officials selected four rural villages as the first pilot zones for this project. Broadway Broadband install high-speed fiber lines at every address in each zone. Farms, small businesses, and country homes with inconsistent Internet now connect at one-gigabit speed. A community working group convened in each village for project feedback and promotion. Pembrokeshire County Council uses Gigabit Broadband Vouchers from the national government to cover installation costs.
