Scenic Rim, QLD replaces canceled Eat Local Week with Farm Box food delivery program

The council and local farmers designed Farm Box following the event's cancellation due to COVID-19. Regional residents customize weekly boxes with 240 products from 50 producers. Pre-selected collections are available as samplers of Scenic Rim's food scene. Produce, bread, and meat are delivered in wooden crates to customers from Scenic Rim to Brisbane. Council officials estimate 18 jobs were created and some of the $2 million AUD in Eat Local Week revenue was recovered by Farm Box.

Scenic Rim, QLD maps stormwater drainage assets in Beaudesert using smart technology

Smart sensors and remote-controlled cameras produced valuable data on 30 kilometers of underwater drainage pipes in Beaudesert. This project resulted in a GIS map of pipes and pits with images attached to each section. Maintenance workers can access the map by phone or tablet to pinpoint exact locations for repair projects. Council officials will consider expansion of this project to other areas for more accurate prioritization of drainage upgrades.
