South Burlington, VT pilots green bike boxes that protect cyclists from traffic
The intersection of Farrell Street and Swift Street features green boxes marking dedicated road space for cyclists. Cars and trucks are not allowed to enter these boxes and cyclists are prohibited from entering crosswalks. Bike boxes are placed ahead of white lines for vehicle traffic so that cyclists complete turns ahead of light changes. Prioritization of bikes and pedestrians encourages active travel while maintaining traffic flow.

This nine-month pilot project started by a Toronoto-based company, Consensus AI, will give citizens a mobile app for their thoughts on local issues, give the city an open portal to receive/publish that feedback, and apply predictive analysis/machine learning to the data.
