The first phase of the transition involved using the Simpli online portal as a customer interface for users to complete and submit building consent forms. The second phase implemented the GoGet software to enable the Council's building solutions team to process electronic building consent applications.

Emergency Management Southland, established by four Southland Councils, developed the Project AF8 program due to the potential of an Alpine Fault earthquake event.
