Squamish, BC created the "Your Stories, Our Community" website for anonymous COVID-19 experiences

The District of Squamish created the "Your Stories, Our Community" website inviting residents to share their unique experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of all ages can anonymously submit their pandemic stories in order to build resilience and empathy within the community. The next phase of the project will involves small group gatherings to review the stories, identify common narratives, and discuss creative solutions.

The District of Squamish hosts "Be Bright @ Night" an annual pedestrian safety campaign that focuses on visibility during the winter. The District partners with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) to distribute prismatic reflectors and ICBC-branded posters encouraging cyclists and pedestrians to wear bright clothing when traveling along dark winter roads.

Squamish, BC launched a free self-directed online COVID-19 Business Resilience Program

The District of Squamish partnered with entrepreneur accelerator Spring Activator and the non-profit Discovery Foundation to launch the Squamish Business Resilience Program. The free online program was designed to support local businesses with economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participating businesses were given access to the course for six months so they could complete the program at their own pace and focus on the most relevant content for them.

Grand Forks, BC creates the Service Sustainability Assessment Tool to evaluate departmental progress

The Excel-based SSAT allows city departments that oversee eight service areas to conduct self-assessments. A 15-minute evaluation places current services on a 0-to-3 scale in terms of finances, service delivery, and governance. The results include a trend evaluation, the percentage of goals completed, and an overall sustainability grade. Grand Forks made SSAT available to all local governments after working with neighboring communities on revisions.
