Council officials are working with Prōject and the University of Hertfordshire on platform development. Project leaders start by gathering existing carbon data and evaluating additional data needs. A beta version of City Net Zero will test analytical and mapping tools for new development applications. The platform will ultimately engage residents and decision-makers in ongoing conversations about development impacts at the neighborhood level.

St. Albans City & District Council, GB experiments with Flexi-Pave surface for park path
A stone path in Clarence Park was replaced by a recycled rubber surface. Flexi-Pave allows water to pass through to tree roots without creating surface cracks or potholes. The Flexi-Pave surface used in St. Albans diverted 380 tires from the landfill. Council officials compared wear levels for the Clarence Park path to similar trails for one year as they considered broader adoption.
