The program offers up to $500 AUD per participant who replaces grass and paved verges with native plants. Stirling includes 20 plants per non-irrigated verge and 40 plants per irrigated verge. Native plants require less water than grass for maintenance and offer habitats for beneficial insects. The Waterwise Verge Rebate is part of the council's Living Green Program that includes school sustainability efforts and home energy improvements.
