Waverley, NSW develops an electronic waste and textile recycling pilot for apartment buildings

Waverley, NSW Apartment Electronic Waste Textile Recycling

In Progress

The one-year pilot sends the council's waste contractor to collect acceptable materials on a regular schedule. E-waste and textiles placed in designated bins are refurbished for sale or reused by partner organizations. Waverley opened the no-cost pilot to apartment buildings with at least 20 units. This program recognizes a blind spot in the council's waste management system as 70 percent of residents are renters.
