Whatcom County, WA launches Waste Wise a free digital tool that answers waste disposal questions
Whatcom County partnered with the technology company ReCollect to develop Waste Wise a free digital tool that answers waste disposal questions for residents. By accessing this online waste and recycling portal, residents can search items and quickly determine how and where to donate, recycle or dispose of them. The county pays $3,600 for an annual subscription which includes tech support and the ability to track which items residents are searching for the most.

Whatcom County and the city of Bellingham are launching an unarmed emergency response pilot program. During the pilot, unarmed behavioral health teams will handle emergency mental health crisis 911 calls instead of police officers or emergency medical technicians.
