Winston-Salem, NC Recreation & Parks Department opened the AARP FitLot for older visitors

The City of Winston-Salem's Recreation and Parks Department opened the AARP FitLot at Miller Park. The Fitlot was created with new exercise equipment designed specifically for the community's older population. There are 22 exercise options at various stations using structures that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act therefore the equipment can be used by visitors with different levels of strength and mobility.

The proposed center helps local police make data-driven choices when responding to criminal activity. Winston-Salem created a Camera Registry Program for privately owned cameras to feed into the center's monitors. Additional innovations like ShotSpotter gun detection technology and a mobile reporting platform for officers will expand the center's capabilities.
