Louisville, KY Louisville Future of Work Initiative
The Louisville Metro Government partnered with Microsoft to launch the Louisville Future of Work Initiative. The program trains students of color for tech jobs and empowers them to use meaningful data for social chance and racial justice by working with local, Black-led non-profits. As a result of this innovative partnership, the city of Louisville was declared to be a "Champion City" finalist in the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge.

After uncovering the 50 most innovative urban solutions in the wake of COVID-19, the Challenge will award 15 grand prize winners $1 million each—to help cities implement their breakthrough ideas and, ultimately, to spread those ideas to other cities on a global scale.

Louisville Metro funds free upskilling programs to increase diversity in tech, access to tech jobs
Louisville Metro has awarded new funding to west Louisville-based organizations AMPED and Louisville Central Community Center (LCCC) to grow their technology upskilling programs, part of the continued work by the Future of Work Initiative to provide skills to Louisville residents and tools to companies that they will need to be successful in the coming data economy.
