Auckland Council moved its property maintenance reporting tool "Request for Service" online. The new service allows residents to report problems online with progress updates via text, email, or the Council's online dashboard. The online option effectively replaces the need for residents to call the contact centre to receive updates on the progress of requested maintenance.

The Council receives approximately 150,000 property maintenance requests per year and this new tool reduced the 55-step manual process down to a 10-step automated process. The Council was awarded the Local Government Funding Agency (LGFA) Award for Transforming Service Delivery by the NZ Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM).
