San Diego, CA built the largest municipal IoT network
The city of San Diego partnered with GE to build the world’s largest municipal IoT network by repurposing 3,200 streetlights with smart sensors. These smart sensors generate event data on parking, vehicle counts, bicycle counts, pedestrian counts, temperature, humidity, pressure. The event data is automatically uploaded to the CityIQ cloud database. Developers can use this event data to create new applications to help improve transportation planning, emergency response, pedestrian safety, etc.
