Bayswater, WA manages mosquito populations along the Swan River with drone mapping and spraying
Bayswater, WA Swan River Mosquito Drone Mapping Spraying
In Progress
Bayswater pursued a drone trial after years of unsuccessful breeding management at two wetlands. The mapping process involves a small drone capturing aerial imagery of known breeding areas. An agricultural drone with a 30-liter tank conducts spraying operations based on these maps. The biological larvicide deployed by the council does not harm nearby vegetation or wildlife. Council officials will decide on seasonal drone use after a six-hectare treatment in 2022.
