Beaumont, AB pilots 3D crosswalk markings to improve pedestrian safety

Western Canada's first 3D sidewalks to pop up in Beaumont | Edmonton Journal

The city of Beaumont will become the first in Western Canada to install two painted 3D crosswalks this week as it launches a pilot project to improve pedestrian safety.

Beaumont, Alberta - Old problem? New solution! Following our pilot 3D crosswalks from last year, we were approached by ATS Traffic to try a new technique. Fast forward to today, and we have a new optical illusion that will more effectively signal cars to stop for pedestrians. Go check it out at 44 Street and 46 Ave! This new crosswalk uses a thermoplastic material instead of paint, which forms a chemical bond with the bitumen in asphalt to become a permanent part of the road. This crosswalk is the first of its kind in Canada, and we're excited to host it here in Beaumont!
