Chicago, IL Emergency Supplemental Victims' Fund Violence
In Progress
Chicago will distribute $275,000 in pilot funds through local advocacy groups serving five neighborhoods. Residents who are victims of gun violence in these areas qualify for $1,000 grants for medical costs. The program offers $1,000 per victim for relocation out of their neighborhoods following debilitating injuries. Families of victims killed in shootings can request $1,500 for burial and funeral costs. This pilot follows back-to-back years of at least 700 gun deaths across the city.
