Columbia, SC expands household access to healthy meals with food delivery pilot
Columbia, SC Food Delivery Pilot Household Healthy Meals
In Progress
Local officials identified areas of the city as food deserts following recent grocery store closures. The pilot uses $10,000 in federal pandemic funds to cover delivery fees for grocery orders by qualifying households. Eligible residents live three miles or more from grocery stores and qualify for Medicare, Medicaid, or disability insurance. Columbia plans partnerships with delivery services and grocery stores to facilitate the pilot's success.
