Dunedin City Council, NZ upgrades water metering for non-residential users with Spark IoT network

Dunedin City Council, NZ Spark IoT Water Meter Upgrade

In Progress

Project partner AD Riley and the city are installing 4,000 smart meters at non-residential sites by winter 2023. Each meter connects to a centralized utility dashboard via Spark's NB-IoT network. Businesses, schools, and other users can access real-time information about their water usage. Dunedin's Three Waters team also monitors usage patterns for potential leaks and blockages. City officials estimate an annual benefit of NZD 800,000 from improved billing and reduced water waste.
