Havant Borough Council, GB Nitrate Trading Platform Reserve
The council purchased a 60-acre dairy farm that created high nitrate levels near Emsworth Harbour. This farm will be turned into a nitrate-free green space between housing developments and the coast. Borough officials created a nitrate trading platform that allows developers to buy offsets for construction nitrates. The Warblington Farm reserve eliminates 1,872 kilograms of nitrates and new construction creates far fewer nitrates than agriculture.
