Horsham District Council, GB experiments with residential composting during HOTBIN pilot

Horsham District Council, GB HOTBIN Residential Composting

In Progress

The council provided HOTBIN units to seven households for a six-month trial. The HOTBIN heats food at temperatures up to 60 degrees Celsius to turn waste into compost in as little as 30 days. Pilot households weigh waste placed in the bin and add totals to their monthly survey responses. Horsham District Council could expand the use of HOTBINS to other households if landfill savings exceed operational costs.
