Horsham District Council, GB diverts unwanted clothing and electronics from landfill during pilot

Horsham District Council, GB Clothing Electronics Pilot

In Progress

Horsham and West Sussex County provide curbside collection during the six-month pilot. District residents book free pickups through an online reservation system. Ninety percent of reusable clothing items are sent to low-income users by project partner JMP Wilcox. Home electronics like MP3 players and desk fans are taken apart for processing into new components. The council hopes for a reduction in the 930 tons of eligible waste sent to landfills each year.
