London Borough of Brent, GB Health Matters Initiative

The council recruited residents in Alperton and Church End to serve as Community Champions. Volunteers speak with ward residents and identify health inequities during COVID-19. Community Champions communicate with each other daily and share feedback with borough leaders about high-risk population needs. Brent Health Matters hosts a monthly virtual meeting with stakeholders to share public health advice and new services.
Project Succeeded
Brent Health Matters expanded from its original wards to the entire borough due to additional national funding. Feedback from Community Champions and monthly meetings have led to PPE distribution, fact-checking campaigns, and an advice line.
