The Tree Canopy Lab combines artificial intelligence, satellite imagery, and infrared photos for a fuller picture of tree canopies. A color-coded scale shows the current percentage of tree coverage by address. Los Angeles can consult data on tree heights, neighborhood temperatures, and population density for more effective planting. City officials hope that the Google product can achieve its goal of 50% more tree canopy by 2028.
