Moonee Valley, VIC turns Woodlands Park ponds into a key element in stormwater harvesting
Moonee Valley, VIC Woodlands Park Stormwater Harvesting
Ponds with stagnant water were turned into sources of clean water with the addition of native wetland plants. Incoming stormwater from Melbourne Water filters through the plants on its way to two creeks and Port Phillip Bay. The council's parks team irrigates some of the processed water for lawn and garden maintenance. Moonee Valley processes 53 megaliters of stormwater through the park each year while protecting local wildlife from harmful waste.
