Newport City Council, GB Solar Installation Sites Egni Co-Op

In Progress

The collaboration will add 6,000 rooftop solar panels to schools, care facilities, and a vehicle depot. City funds aren't used for the project thanks to co-op share sales and federal funding. Energy surplus to council building needs will be shifted to the local grid. Upon completion, Newport will realize carbon emission reductions of 348 tons per year. Solar installations will move the city toward its goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.
