San Diego County, CA ShakeReadySD Early Earthquake Warnings
ShakeReadySD was incorporated into the existing SD Emergency app following a collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Seismic activity recorded by the agency's 770 underground sensors triggers alerts to app users. The criteria for activating ShakeReadySD include magnitudes of 4.5 or higher and shaking intensities of 3 or higher. The long-term goal of ShakeReadySD is to improve earthquake safety by alerting residents ahead of seismic waves.

The County of San Diego’s SD Emergency app is now equipped with ShakeReadySD, an earthquake early warning system. This will let users know if an earthquake has occurred nearby that is likely to cause shaking within seconds and it will urge them to take protective action such as drop, cover and hold on or another appropriate safety measure.
