Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, GB tackles illegal dumping with Environmental Response Team
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, GB Response Team
The council created this team for site evaluations and clean-ups during a seven-month pilot. Illegal dumping hotspots and overgrown public spaces that can't be cleared by standard maintenance are identified. The Environmental Response Team prioritizes sites in the borough's six towns based on criteria like public visibility and health hazards. Team members determine why sites were targeted for dumping, refer cases for penalties, and work with community groups on long-term solutions.
