Sunshine Coast, QLD puts stormwater to better use with its Storm Watered Street Tree Trial
Sunshine Coast, QLD Storm Watered Street Tree Trial
The suburb of Golden Beach diverts stormwater from streets and sidewalks to roadside trees. Sunshine Coast worked with Design Flow Consulting to deliver stormwater directly to tree roots. Council teams are observing the impacts of the trial on different tree species to calibrate future uses in other suburbs. This initiative provides consistent water supplies to trees without increasing maintenance costs.
