Toowoomba, QLD converts methane into electricity for water treatment with landfill gas project

Toowoomba, QLD Landfill Gas Project Water Treatment

In Progress

Methane buildup at the council's Waste Management Facility will be diverted to underground pipes. The stored gas will be delivered to a generator that powers the Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility. Council officials and project partner LGI are testing gas quality during a six-month evaluation period before implementation in 2021. Toowoomba can responsibly dispose of methane and reduce the water treatment facility's carbon footprint through this project.
