The borough and GRIDSERVE developed the 88-acre Cirencester Hybrid Solar Farm to power an all-electric bus fleet starting in 2023. This 23 MWp facility is the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom. This partnership previously acquired a solar site in Hull for all of the council's operational needs and built a York hybrid farm for sales back into the grid. Warrington Borough Council is the first local authority in the United Kingdom to generate 100% of its own electricity.
