West Lafayette, IN uses a new food waste collecting bin
The City of West Lafayette's Streets and Sanitation Department is using a new food waste collecting bin to reduce its carbon footprint. Previously households and businesses were only able to drop off their food waste at one designated spot at the sanitation office. The new collecting bin allows city sanitation trucks to easily transport food waste to the wastewater treatment plant where an anaerobic digester turns it into renewable energy that helps powers the plant.
