Greater Manchester Combined Authority, GB funds Unbroken VR training for domestic violence help

VR developer Mother Mountain Productions contracted with the authority for Unbroken's development. Unbroken is divided into two tracks - Insight and Flourish - for council officials and non-profit services, respectively. Insight's immersive experiences of coercive control based on interviews with 15 survivors improve staff awareness. Flourish provides tools like life coaching and meditations for different stages of organizational assistance.

Suffolk County Council, GB develops virtual reality application for residents with dementia

Suffolk County Council approved a contract with Spark for a VR application dedicated to dementia care. The Digital Care Team will turn ideas from care providers and the community into engaging virtual activities. A prototype of the app will be tested in at-home and care home settings with feedback used for further development. This project uses £80,000 from the Suffolk 2020 Fund and complements existing dementia care tools like AV theme rooms.

South Dublin County Council, IE AWS Think Big Space stimulates STEM learning among community members

Miami Gardens collaborated with CEEK on a virtual representation of the city. User avatars explore Virtual City locations like Hard Rock Stadium and Florida Memorial University without leaving home. The CEEK VR app supports easy navigation of virtual Miami Gardens on VR headsets, mobile devices, and tablets. Project leaders plan virtual events and access to digital services for expanded Virtual City functionality.

Cornwall Council, GB brings Newquay Futures development project to life with a VR experience

The Newquay Futures project proposes active travel infrastructure and new community spaces for the coastal town. Cornwall Council and Digital Urban incorporated these proposals into a virtual reality version of Newquay. This VR experience includes 360-degree images, city sounds, and virtual neighbors viewed from a cyclist's perspective. Local officials and Round Midnight started with a virtual reality training pilot across 31 schools. The VR program placed 1,395 students into a simulated situation with multiple potential outcomes. Participants discussed the roots of violent behavior and smart decision-making over a 12-week curriculum. Virtual_Decisions was expanded to all schools with Year 5 through 8 students as Greater Manchester seeks reductions in youth violence.

The Municipality of Härnösand will be the first in Norrland to build a training center based entirely on virtual reality.
