Allentown, PA collaborates with Lehigh Valley Health Network on interpreting technology pilot

Allentown's Health Bureau and EMS teams received seven iPads with video remote interpreting (VRI) software. First responders can access around-the-clock interpreting services from LVHN for languages ranging from ASL to Mandarin. Health Bureau representatives also use the VRI technology during vaccination clinics and other public health events. The pilot improves emergency services to a significant minority of residents who speak languages other than English.

Allentown, PA partners with Clear Blue Technologies to add off-grid street lighting systems

The city conducted a pilot of four Smart Off-Grid lighting systems on American Parkway in 2019. A successful trial led to Allentown's approval of 80 Clear Blue systems along two miles of the high-traffic street. Smart Off-Grid systems use solar power to create bright lighting even during weather events. Allentown will rely on the company's Cloud Control platform for remote monitoring, light adjustment, and weather analysis.
