Appleton, WI partners with We Energies' Solar Now initiative on rooftop solar panel installations
The city of Appleton is partnering with the We Energies' Solar Now initiative to generate electricity from an array of rooftop solar panels wired together to function as single system. These rooftop solar panels will be installed at a new library, a transit building, and a municipal services building. The combined strength of these rooftop solar panels will produce up to a megawatt of electricity which is enough to power 300 households.

Appleton, WI evaluates downtown mobility improvements during Bird e-scooter pilot
The city council approved an eight-month pilot of Bird scooters in a pilot zone including heavily-traveled College Avenue. An initial fleet of 50 e-scooters provides vehicle alternatives near the riverfront and Lawrence University. A successful early rollout could lead to an additional 50 e-scooters hitting local streets. Appleton incurs no costs during the trial with Bird covering maintenance, customer service, and data collection.
