Burwood, NSW Burwood Cares Inititive Resident Business
Council teams distributed 750 relief packages with food and hygiene products to self-isolated households. The initiative completed calls to 1,000 households and nearly 200 businesses to check on their needs during COVID-19. Business owners received social distancing packets containing multi-lingual stickers and signs. Local officials complemented Burwood Cares with $30 AUD rate rebates for households and waived health inspections for businesses.

Awards success for community programs Burwood Council
Two of Council’s most innovative programs of the last 12 months received state-wide recognition at the NSW Local Government Professionals Annual Awards ceremony in Sydney on Thursday.
Burwood Cares program to continue Burwood Council
Council has resolved to extend the Burwood cares program until the end of the year.
Project Succeeded
Burwood Council was Highly Commended in the Community Development category at the 2021 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards. The council extended the program through March 2021 due to its popularity.
