The commissioners of Butler County are considering a $3.9 million proposal from the Butler Rural Electric Cooperative (BREC) and telecommunications company Cincinnati Bell. The proposal seeks to address the digital divide by expanding high-speed broadband access to 2,700 rural locations. If approved, the commissioners will pay for the proposal using some of the $75 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding awarded to the county.
