Cheshire West and Chester Council, GB created a renewable energy supplier to cut household emissions

Cheshire West and Chester Council, GB Renewable Supplier

Complete

Qwest Energy was founded by the council in partnership with Qwest Services and ENGIE. The provider acquires 100% of its electricity from wind and solar sources. A comprehensive energy package includes heating gas from organic fuel sources. An estimated £120,000 per year in profits are reinvested into discounted tariffs and energy retrofits for low-income customers. Qwest Energy and the council's use of solar energy for public buildings work toward a net-zero emission goal in 2030.
