City of York Council, GB makes progress toward net-zero emissions with Community Woodland project

City of York Council, GB Community Woodland Project

In Progress

The Community Woodland will house 50,000 trees on 194 acres west of the city when it is completed in 2023. York residents, businesses, and nonprofits were consulted on the project's location and features. A diverse collection of trees and flowers will attract native wildlife while sequestering carbon from emissions. City officials plan green recreation spaces and connections to multi-purpose trails that increase the woodland's value to the community.
