The Clovis Police Department tested drones for first-on-the-scene work during a 90-day pilot. Drones deployed during emergency calls allowed quick evaluations before officers were involved. City officials hoped for improved evidence gathering and reduced time spent on false alarms. The program was also designed as a helpful tool for police officers to observe social distancing requirements during the COVID-19 outbreak.
