Cobb County, GA mental healthcare services for inmates
The Cobb County Sheriff's Office announced that the jail would be providing continuous mental healthcare services to inmates. This program its the first of its kind in the state of Georgia. The program is being designed in recognition of the fact that detention facilities have become de facto mental health providers. The Adult Detention Center will have a full-time psychiatrist on staff to quickly assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health issues.
