Cork County Council, IE and Cork City puts unused paint to good use with Revive Paint initiative

Cork County Council, IE Revive Paint Unused Paint Initiative

Complete

Public officials partnered with Cycle Sense and Northside Community Enterprise for this project. Staff members at each organization were trained to filter, mix, and package new paints from unused paints dropped off at public collection points. The organizations benefit from paint sales, while the city and county reduce costs from exporting waste. Revive Paint also creates a circular economy cycle for the 190 tons of paint gathered by the governments each year.

New Cork initiative sees waste paint reused and upcycled | Cork County

October is National Reuse Month, and to help us play our part, Cork County Council and Cork City Council have launched an innovative circular economy initiative called Revive Paint, which involves the production of good quality, affordable paint by two Cork based social enterprises using paint which they collect from local authority civic amenity sites. The social enterprises involved are Northside Community Enterprise (NCE) in Farranferris, Cork City and Cycle Sense based in Skibbereen.

Project Succeeded

Revive Paint processed 2.5 tons of unused paint during the program's first three months.
